Cremation with a Funeral Service 

 We are prepared to offer your family any type of Cremations funeral  services that the industry has seen grown over the years. Upstate Family  Funeral Services has provided cremations funeral services to families  from across the Region and Nation. The funeral home is responsible for  removal of the deceased and transferring to the funeral home.  Embalming  of decease if the family request viewing or cremation with a service  after receiving the approval of immediate family member in charge of the  decease. In the case that the decease is located out of the Upstate  region additional arrangement will be required. After this step is  complete the Funeral Director makes arrangements to meet with the  family. During the meeting with the family the director will assist in  planning the cremation fun service.  Family's traditionally select a  casket & Urns if a cremation and Service are schedule. Discuss the  appropriate burial clothes. Many family chose to have a Memorial Service  with a Urn. Design and layout the funeral service program, including  calling ministers and friends to participate on the program. Work out  the location of the funeral services. Arrange the family's  transportation to the service. During the process family's are able to  discuss the funeral expense  and make needed adjustments.

 The funeral home staff will assist in directing your family in the  selection of floral arrangements. Typically the family is responsible  for the cost of the Casket Spray which a symbol of the family connection  to the deceased

Gather the Deceased Information

You will need to provide the funeral director with vital information about the deceased.  Parent's names including middle initials, also the social security number, date of birth, place of birth of the deceased, names of children, military if it applies, their place of work (Name and address) and occupation of the deceased. This information is used for the death certificate.

Notify the Family's Minister or Spiritual Leader

A religious leader often plays a role in helping family's during times of bereavement. They may conduct the funeral service and lean support during the planning process. 

Notify close relatives and friends.

Often times the planning of a funeral service is very difficult and takes a lot of time. Make sure to notify close relatives and friends about the passing of the deceased. Some family members may need time to travel and notify employers. 

Make arrangements for the official family gathering location

​People will want to know were the family is excepting guest before and after the funeral service.

Writing the obituary

​Information is need for the newspaper and funeral program. Gather as much information as possible about the deceased. The obituary is more than timeline of the person birth and death. Its is the person life story. Included were they went to school, church information, career information, place of interest and what made them special.

Discuss who will be responsible for funeral expenses for billing purposes

If there is an executor for the estate of the deceased, this person usually handles this responsibility, but it is entirely up to the family to determine who should handle this responsibility. Often families will divide this responsibility between several family members. In most cases the deceased has will have a insurance policy to pay for the services
