William D. Cox, 84, died May 28, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Pickens, SC. He was a United States Army Veteran and former employee of Homer Styles Construction. Gloria Shankle Symonette, 65, of 420 Coral Creek Way died May 16, 2018. She was a daughter of Hazel Shankle and Late Hoyle Shankle. She was in U.S. Air Force. Mary Griffin Ragin, 73, of Halton Road died May 12, 2018. Born in Portsmouth, Va. on November 14, 1944 she was the daughter of late Willie H. Griffin and Mary Randall Griffin.
Mary is survived by two daughters Alvareia E. Ragin of Greenville SC and Maheia Ragin of Portsmouth, Va.; 5 grandchildren – one Blake Sawyer of Greenville, SC; 5 great grandchildren;

Master De mari A’mir Miracle Griffin, 6 months old, went to be with Lord on April 6, 2018. He was born September 20, 2017 in Charleston, South Carolina to Sequoia Monae Glover and Brennen D’Michael Griffin.

Faye Tyrann Grant-Johnson was born on December 21, 1955 to late and Bernice Grant of Greer, SC. She grew up in Enid, OK, where she attended Enid High School and Autry Vocational Center in the Medical Field, and was on the honor roll throughout her studies.
Faye worked for 25 years for the state of Oklahoma at Norris in the healthcare profession working with the mentally disable. She also received a Perfect Attendance award for 25 years of dedication and retired in 1993. She married the love of her life, Michael E. Johnson, and shortly thereafter became the best mother she could be to Kirsten. Her heart was overwhelmed with joy when she became Kinzhasa’s “Nana.” Her pride and joy was her great-grandson, Jahmir. She enjoyed being with him every day and watching him grow. She attended First Missionary Baptist church, Rev. Baldwin, St. Matthew Full Gospel, Elder Henderson, Community Missionary Baptist church Rev. Gatewood, SC, and Grayson Missionary Baptist Church, OK, where she sang in the choir. She loved music, crocheting, shopping, cooking, and word finds puzzles.
Faye departed this life on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Spartanburg SC. Her brothers, Thomas Grant and Darnell Grant, preceded her in death. Donald Philandous Kanard was born to Donald McDowell and Elaine Kanard on September 13, 1974 in Greenville, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2018. Donald P. Kanard attended Carolina High School where he was known for his talent on the football field. He later worked as a forklift driver at Columbia Farms in Greenville SC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Kanard, and step-father, Benny Lee Smith.
He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, his wife, Jolean Kanard and a special friend Crystal McGreen; children, Brandon Kanard, Jniya Kanard; father, Donald McDowell; mother, Elaine Kanard; sisters, Jereeka Kanard Thompson (Oscar) of Greenville, SC, Melanie Smith of Atlanta, GA, Cassandra Poole of Greenville, SC; and brothers, Benny (Delacy) Smith Jr. of Charlotte, NC , James (Tina) Smith of Atlanta, GA, Eric Poole of Greenville, SC; a special aunt, Gloria Jean Kanard of Greenville, SC; special friends, Michael Heyward and Bobby Joe Knox, both of Greenville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Deaconess Edell P. Brown departed this life Wednesday February, 7, 2018 at the Open Heart Hospice Home in Simpsonville, SC. She was born September 14, 1926 in Greenville County Hospital to the late Owen and Addie L. Collier Perkins. Educated in the Greenville County School system and attended Sullivan Street Elementary, Union Middle and Sterling High School class of 1944.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a brother James Perkins and sister Addie Rozell Perkins.
Upon graduation she moved to New York where she she met her husband the late Deacon Bennie Brown. They were married for almost 53 years before his death in January 2005.
Deaconess Brown was a faithful member Great Mount Calvary Baptist Church, serving as one of the churches oldest deaconess and Adult Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years until her health declined.
She leaves to behind many fond memories to be cherished by her daughter Minister Annzell D. ( Calvin) Johnson; a grandaughter Nikesha A. Williams; great-grandson Jalen M. Williams; great grandaughter Amaiya J. Williams; a God daughter Brenda C. Henderson and God son Harry Chancellor all of Greenville SC; and a host of relatives and friends.

Marian Celestine Walker – Richardson “Ms. Tine” the daughter of Mr. Leonard and Ellen Walker, born on January 8, 1952 in Liberty, South Carolina. Marian was a student at Clearview High School in Easley, South Carolina and resigned from Hardee’s in Greenville, South Carolina. In 2017, she became part of the New Beginnings Methodist Church family.
She had a deep love for others, especially children. Marian was always ready to lend a helping hand. On Saturday, February 3, 2018, she entered into eternal rest; while a resident at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Marian (Ms.Tine) was proceeded in death by her husband, David Richardson II; brother, Jerry Walker and step-daughter, Lisa Richardson. Marian “Ms. Tine” leaves to cherish fond memories a daughter, Sheila Thompson of the home; two sons, Tim Walker of Greenville, SC and Hunter (Amanda) Pelzer of Greenville, SC; a brother, Wayne (Joyce) Walker of New Haven, CT. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Shirley Brown of Mauldin, SC. Ms. Tine leaves twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Raymond Fields Jr. better known as June Fields died on January 29, 2018. Born in Spartanburg County on May 7, 1930 to late Raymond Gilliam and Mae Mills Fields. He attended New Hope School and joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age. He was a skilled mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents , one daughter Shirley Drummond; his step-father John Henry Fields; two brothers Roy Fields and Boyce Gilliam; one sister Claudine Drummond: girlfriend Marie Williams; a granddaughter Sheila Grayson; a grandson Johnny Ray Williams and a great grandson Donald Ray" Bull" Gilliam;He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter Rev. Patricia Faye( Bobby) Martin: a step daughter Dorothy "Dot" Grayson; a special great grandson Rodney Gilliam reared in the home; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. David Anderson, Sr. entered eternal rest on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born on May 13, 1951 in Travelers Rest to the late Carl and Carrie Anderson, Sr. David was a caring husband, father, brother, and friend. He leaves behind countless memories.
David was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and a strong craftsman employed by Red Arrow for many years, and with the Hawkins until his declining health.
David was a fun-loving man. He brought a special light to those who knew him best, and loved to make everyone around him laugh with his stories. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Anderson, Jr. and James Arthur Anderson; and a sister, Melissa Floyd.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rachel Anderson; one daughter, Charlene Anderson of Greenville, SC; three sons, David (Tameka) Anderson Jr. of Anderson, SC, Daryl and Michael Anderson, both of Greenville, SC; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Anderson of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Linda Lou Brooks and Elizabeth Workman, both of Travelers Rest, SC, and Margaret (Michael) Young of Greenville, SC; one brother-in-law, Johnny Floyd of Greenville, SC; one sister-in-law, Ida Anderson of Travelers Rest, SC; along with a host of relatives and friends. Thomas Calvin Johnson was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on September 26, 1933, and departed this life on January 23, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late James Johnson and Alice Davis Johnson. He was predeceased by one son, Lancey Cobb; four brothers, Booker T. Johnson, James Henry Johnson, Bobby Johnson, and Shelley Johnson; two sisters, Gladys Johnson Carter and Eugenia Johnson Martin; one granddaughter; and three grandsons. At an early age, he became a member of the New Bethlehem Baptist Church of Princeton, South Carolina. He was a retired employee of Clemson University.
He was survived by one brother, John (Sheila) Johnson; extended family, Larry (Debra) Cobb, Gloria (James) Smith, Cheryl (Joe) Campbell, Lena (Pat) Roberts, Thomas (Cynthia) Cobb, Vincent Cobb; one sister-in-law, Evelena Strawder; six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends

The blessed life of Mozana Clinkscales began on December 7, 1926, and ended 91 years later, on January 9, 2018. She was born as the fifth daughter to the late Rev. Elbert and Estella Patterson of McCormick, SC. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charlies and Bobbie Joe Patterson; five sisters, Evelyn McCullough, Annie Ruth Belcher, Marion Sullivan, Virginia Washington, and Alberta Smalley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Clinkscales; one son, Larry Clinkscales; one daughter, Carolyn Workman.
Along with her husband, she lovingly raised seven children. She created a home that was warm and nurturing, where everyone was respected and welcomed. She was a kind and loving mother. Her life goal was to please God. Mozana was a member of Refuge Temple Church in Greenville, SC. Mozana was a woman of strength, wisdom, and great humility. She accepted Christ at an early age. Her love for God, family, and her fellowman could be observed in her daily Christian walk. She can always be quoted as saying, “Love each other and trust God.”
Her memory will be cherished by her two sisters, Lafrita Ashley and Connie Patterson, both of Augusta, GA; three sons, Bobby (Clara) Clinkscales, Aundra (Delores) Clinkscales, both of Greenville, SC, and Charlie (Gloria) Clinkscales of Mauldin, SC; two daughters, Annie Ruth Abraham and Mozana Johnson both of Greenville, SC; eldest grandchild, Rugina Taylor, raised in the home; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services were held Monday January 15, 2018 1pm at Refuge Temple Church. With burial in the Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Johnny “Higg” Nathaniel Higgins was born October 19, 1960 in Greer, SC. He passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He is now resting in everlasting peace. Johnny Nathaniel Higgins was the son of late Mattie Lou Higgins and late Robert Lee Higgins. Johnny is survived by six siblings, three sisters, Alonda Higgins, Tarra Miller, and Sharon Higgins, all of Greer, SC; three brothers, Lee Monthe Higgins of Reidville, SC, Michael Higgins of Inman, SC, and Emmaline Higgins of Greer, SC. He is preceded in death by nephew, Devery Glenn.
The circle of mourners also includes nieces, Destiny, Tolana, Solana, Ola Yentl, Condell, Porchia Smith, Tarra Hayes, and Jalisa Sullivan; and three nephews, Lecorbus, Janay, and Joshua Higgins;; seven great-nieces, seven great-nephews, and friend of family, Mickey Martin.

Mrs. Lois Davis Dawkins, wife of the late Mr. John H. Dawkins and daughter of the late Mrs. Brawdus and Carrie Davis, was born in Fairfield, SC on March 17, 1934. On Monday, January 1, 2018, the sweet chariot of God swung low to carry her home.
Lois was a member of Enoree Fork Baptist Church for over 60 years, and served faithfully when duty called. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, family, next to God, was her Most Valuable Asset. She was a well-known and loved person, a good neighbor, friend, and inspiration to everyone who came into contact with her. Mrs. Lois Dawkins made a lasting impression on everyone and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
