Franklin Delano Greer Sr.

 

Franklin Delano Greer, Sr., son of the late Reverend Leroy Greer and Nellie Goldsmith Greer, was born on November 20, 1940 in Taylors, South Carolina. On June 3, 2023 he departed this life at his residence in Taylors, SC.

He was a lifelong member of Jubilee Baptist Church, where he was a Trustee and on the Usher Board. He was baptized in 1947 in the Enoree River.

Franklin was educated in Greenville County, where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958 and played the trumpet in the band. At the age of 10 he joined 4H and Boy Scout Troup #140.  He made the local paper after winning an award for raising the best chicken.

Frank was very passionate about his family history and passed on the importance of love and Knowledge of our family.  Knowing family history is very important in keeping the knowledge through out every generation and to always keep it in our hearts and to gather at family reunions and grow in love with one another

He was a man of many talents which included fixing cars, plumbing, carpentry, farming, land scaping, often called on by family, neighbors and friends for help. Frank retired from Associated Packing in Greer, SC with over 15 years of service.

Loving memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those left to cherish his memories. This includes his children; Audrey (James) Kelch, Franklin Greer, Jr. Lavette Evans, Valerie Greer, and Monica Leonard; siblings: Charles (Barbara) Greer and Henry (Martha) Greer; grandchildren: Brandy (Johnny) Howard, Jermaine Greer, Octavia Amanda Allen, Robert Marcus Allen, Katrina McGee, Danica Greer, Franklin “Trey” Greer III, Fabyon Greer, Makaila Greer, Onika Greer,  Lavar Evans, Chryslyn Jones, Damien Leonard, and Jasmaine Leonard; great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline Greer and Mattie Butler, brother Daniel Greer, and grandchildren, Priska Greer and James Kelch, Jr, and his pet cat Tiger. 


Memorial Services will be held on Thursday June 8, 2023 at Jubilee  Baptist Church located at 525 Old Rutherford Rd in Taylors, SC  at 2pm

Alvin Mills

 Alvin Mills of Greenville pasted away on May 13, 2023 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents Douglas Mills & Ella Mae Mills.

He is survived by loving wife Willie Ruth Mills. His Children; Kendrick Yeargin; Eric Yeargin; Alvin Yeargin; Ella Yeargin Grand Children; Christopher Yeargin; Jerimiah Yeargin. Brothers; Roberts Mills and Charles Mills. Sisters; Barbara Mills; Mary Mills; Betty Robinson; Carolyn Weaver; Rober Mills and Charles Mills 

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023 at noon in the Upstate Family Funeral Services Greenville Chapel. Public View will be on Friday May 19, 2023 from Noon until 5pm

JOHNNY ALEXANDER BURTON


Mr. Johnny A. Burton of 251 HAMMETT STORE RD LYMAN SC entered into his Heavenly Home on Monday May 15, 2023.  John was born in Greenville County on June 14, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents John Burton and Viola Thompson and sister Viola Woodruff. He was a very kind spirited man. John attended Florence Chapel High School in Spartanburg County. He  loved playing softball and  fishing.  Mr. Burton was a South Carolina Gamecock fan and was a big Carolina Panther football fan. Johnny worshipped at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Wellford, SC.

He is survived by his loving wife. Mrs. Lula McMorris Bruton. Daughters; Vickie Jones(Alfred) of Boling Springs, SC; Sandra Burton and Margaret  Burton both of Spartanburg, SC  . Sons; Jimmy Burton(Janice) of Lyman, SC 

and Alexander Burton of Spartanburg, SC. Grand Children;  Brian McMorris of the home in Lyman, SC; Prometheus Jones: Twyonia Burton; Jimyarcus Burton; Jada Burton. Four Great Grand Childern; Brianna Lowery; Tanijah Samuel; Tariyah Samuel and Aunt Bobbie Woodruff.  

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023 at noon in the Upstate Family Funeral Services Greer Chapel. Public View will be on Friday May 19, 2023 from Noon until 5pm. The family is at 271 Hammett Store Rd Lyman, SC 

James L. Kershaw

James Kershaw, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great

grandfather passed away on May 3, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on

February 13, 1949, in Wellford, South Carolina, James was the son

of Mattie Bruton Kershaw and Perry Kershaw. He grew up in

Wellford and attended high school at Florence Chapel, where he

graduated in 1966. Shortly after graduation, James joined the Air

Force and served as an Air Police Supervisor . He was dedicated to

his duties and was respected by his colleagues for his work ethic

and leadership skills.

After serving his country, James attended Business College and

earned a degree. Later in life, he went to Real Estate school and

received his real estate license. James went on to work at the

United States Post office and retired.

James married Delorise Logan on December 19, 1969, and they

had three children: James (Toot) Kershaw Jr. (Veronica), Kevin

Kershaw (Michelle) and Adeia Kershaw Brewton (Anthony). James

was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first.

He loved spending time with his children and was proud of their

accomplishments. James was a role model for his children,

teaching them the importance of hard work, honesty, and respect.

James was also a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He had

seven grandchildren: Jazmen Kershaw, Jaimie Kershaw, Lakeisha

Kershaw Chappell (Rakeem), Kayla Kershaw, Kaleb Kershaw,

Deandre Moren (Kimberly) and Jordan Brewton. James loved

spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow. He

was also blessed with thirteen great grandchildren.

James was a kind and generous man who took care of everyone.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

James was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he will

be deeply missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday May 7, 2023 at 2pm in the Upstate Family Funeral Service Greer Chapel. Public viewing will be held on Saturday May 6, 2023 from 1:00pm to 5pm

David Gambrell Jr

David Gambrell of 2702 Old Easley Bridge Road, passed away on April 16, 2023 at St. Francis Downtown after an extended illness. He is the son of the late David Gambrell and Carrie Floyd Gambrell.  He is survived by five sisters; Geraldine Floyd, Audrey Gambrell, Gloria Gambrell, Kathy Gambrell, and Kim Gambrell , Two brothers ; Jerry Floyd and Danny Gambrell, and a special aunt Agnus Glenn. He is predeceased by one sister, Palee Burton.  Services for Mr. Gambrell will be held 2pm Saturday April 22 at The Upstate Funeral Services Greenville chapel located at 506 Arlington Avenue.  Burial following the service at The Brown Eternal Gardens in Greer.   

The Family is at 363 Gower Street in Greenville, SC.               

Shannon Dean Smith

  

Shannon Dean Smith was born on June 13, 1973 and was the son of Robert Dean Smith and Kathy Hendrix Hind. Shannon passed away on April 7, 2023. He was preceded in death by grandparents; Robert Smith Buddy Hendrix and Eulalia Hendrix.

Shannon began working with his uncle, Jerry Hendrix about the age of 14 learning the HVAC trade. He has worked at this his entire life. Shannon graduated from Greer High School in 1991. He loved playing golf, softball, fishing and racing. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, His parents Robert Dean Smith (Kathy) and Kathy Hendrix Hind

Daughter Sophia Smith and son Maxwell Smith. One grandparent Ruth Smith. He also leaves his brothers; Shawn Smith and Chad Bagwell and Sister Kelsey Hind. Step siblings Sammie Hunter and Jerry Hunter. 

The funeral services will take place on Monday April 10, 2023 at 3pm. The service will be held at People’s Baptist Church located at 310 Victor Ave, Greer, SC. The family will receive friends at the Church starting at 2pm. Burial will take place at Woods Memorial Park located at 863 Gap Creek Rd, Greer, SC 

Pallbearers will be Brent Clark, Max Hightower, Travis Knight, David McCarter, Zak Pitman and Brent Thomason

Derrick Michael Burris

Derrick Burris of 6  Greer Street , Greer SC was born on August 8, 1989  in Greenville SC and departed his life on Monday, March 27, 2023 at his home . Derrick was the son of the late Felica Ann Burris and Harold

Derrick was a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School Class of 2008. He was a truck driver for 10+ years proceeding after high school. 

Derrick enjoyed trucking, video gaming, four wheeling, gun range and being around family and friends. Derick was  very kind hearted `precious soul with a smile that would light up the room. He was always laughing and there when you needed him. He loved to crack jokes, ride out, listen to music, dance and loved being in good spirits. 

Derrick was proceeded in death by his mother Felicia Ann Burris and brother Glen Arron "Delano" Johnson. Grandparents Lola Mae Miller and Lawrence Blackmon. 

 Derrick leaves behind father Harold Burris (Selesha Burris) and one sister Regina Burris. The matriarch of the Burris family, Blackmon Family, along with an ever growing list of relatives that consist of grandparents, aunt, uncles, & cousins. Also a host of very close friends that become brothers and sisters to Derrick.  

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 3:30pm in the Upstate Family Funeral Service Greer Chapel 


Wayne Davis

Wayne Davis of 209 Berea Forest Circle passed away March 31, 2023 at McCall Hospice House. He was born on June 3, 1955. He was the son of the late Carl and Hazel Joel Davis. Wayne was a graduate of Park High School in Greenville. He is survived by his daughter Sheneka Tennille Davis. Son Eric Dewayne Davis of Easley, SC. Two sisters Teresa Williams & Constance Odell both of Greenville. He also leaves to cherish his memories a longtime friend and caregiver Jessie Berry

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 1pm in the Upstate Family Funeral Service Greenville Chapel located a 506 Arlington Ave. Greenville, SC. Interment will be held privately with the family 

Lee Anthony Jones

 Lee Anthony Jones passed away on March 28th at Prisma Health Greenville. He was the son of the late T. J. Foster and Clara Jones Williams. In addition to his mother, He is survived by his wife Juanita Jones, daughter Alizae Cantrell; Sister Sharon Dodd; aunts; Betty Fowler; Juania Miller; Margie Foster; Brenda Foster and Lucille Foster; nephew Justin Jones; and host of other relatives and friends. The Family is at 404 Sunnyside Drive. 

Funeral Services will be Monday April 3, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Upstate Family Funeral Service Greer Chapel. 

Viewing will take place on Sunday April 2, 2023 from 1pm til 5pm

Lawrence Blackmon Jr,

 Lawrence Blackmon Jr, of 4 Maggie Street Greenville passed away March 27, 2023 at his residence.   He is the son of the late Lawrence Blackmon and Annie Kinard Blackmon.  Survivors in addition to his mother are 3 sons:; Labrandon Blackmon(Kayla}, Devin Robinson, and Cameron Isiah Blackmon; one brother Timothy L. Blackmon (Julianna); one sister, Audria Massey(Kenneth); Grandson Elijah Blackmon; Stepson Braylin Bloise, and a host of other relatives and friends.  Services will be Sunday April 2nd  at 2pm at Flat Rock Baptist Church.

Viewing will be Saturday April 1st from 1pm til 5pm at Upstate Family Funeral Service Greenville Chapel.  

James Weatherspoon

 James SPOON Weatherspoon was born on November 11, 1954  In Spartanburg South Carolina to Carrie L Jones and Charles Weatherspoon.-James SPOON Weatherspoon finished his journey peacefully on March 9, 2023 at the age of 68
James is survived by one sister Mary Dobbins of Greer South Carolina and two brothers Earl Jones of   Lyman South Carolina  And Jessie Jones of Greer South Carolina. James is preceded in death by his mother Carrie L Jones,  three sisters Charlene Weatherspoon, Deborah Ann Weatherspoon, Eloise Weatherspoon, and two brothers Frankie Jones and Charles Weatherspoon. Although James didn't have any Children, he help raise some and leave behind 5 niece, 3 nephews, 26 Greats and 47 great- greats niece and nephews.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 3pm  in the Greer Upstate Funeral Service chapel 

Patricia Ann Fielder


 Patricia Ann Fielder was born on August 8 1949 ot the late Emmus and Hazel Williams Mitchell. She passed away on March 6 2023 at Prisma Memorial Hospital in Greer after an extended illness.

Patricia loved her family and her church and dedicated her life to both.

She is predeceased by her husband Tommy Collins Fielder.

Patricia leaves to cherish precious memories, her daughter, Mary Ann Fielder of Greer; three brothers, Billy Mitchell(Ann), Freddie Mitchell, and Melvin Mitchell all of Greer; one sister Carolyn McMahan(JT) of Greer; five grandchildren, Dominique Fielder, Lavisha Fielder, Terray Fielder, Shaquoan Fielder, and Atavius Cossel; one aunt Shirley Williams; and a host of great-grandchildren; niece; and nephews.

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday March 15, 2023 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Greer, SC on Elmer Street during the afternoon at 3pm. 

Public viewing will take place at Upstate Family Funeral Services Greer location on Tuesday March 14, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 5pm

  

Richard Lee White of 608 Crestwood Forest Drive  passed away on February 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on September 23, 1958 to  the late  John L White and Flora Beth White. Richard graduated from Travelers Rest High School. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a talented mechanic and loved to work on cars. He love to watch football and teasing his sisters about the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was not a Steeler fan. he was a Miami Dolphin fan. During his journey in life he met  Marian Ann Nedwards who was a very special friend. Richard was a good brother. 

He leaves to cherish his memories four sisters; Doris A. Cureton of Greenville; Shurba J. White of Greenville; Linda J. Sullivan of Greenville and Lisa Hampton of Greenville. One brother; James S. White of Greenville.

The Family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2pm in the Upstate Family Funeral Services Greenville Chapel located at 505 Arlington Ave Greenville, SC 

Pamela Michelle Woodruff

211 Austin Street Apt 8 Greer passed away on February 12, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Father Jessie James Woodruff and Margaret Dodd Woodruff. She leaves to cherish her memories three wonderful children. They are Montravius Lewis(Brittany) of Taylors; Tiyante Lewis and Tyvario Lewis both of Greer. Two brothers: James Woodruff (Rena) of Mauldin; David Calhoun of Greer. Three sisters; Margaret Woodruff(Troy Foster) of Greer; Darlene Gregory of Greer and Patricia Calhoun of Greer.  

Funeral service will take place on Saturday February 18, 2023 at 1pm at Upstate Family Funeral Services Greer Chapel located in Greer, SC 

Public viewing will be held on Friday February 17, 2023 from 1pm til 5pm 

Donna Burnette Pickett

  

Donna Burnette Pickett was born October 6, 1964 in Greenville County South Carolina, to Douglas Pickett and the late Joyce Jackson Pickett. She passed away on February 08, 2023 at Prisma Heath Greer Memorial Hospital.  Donna was a graduate of Greer High School, class of 1982. She was a caregiver and private sitter. She responded immediately with genuine love in action for anyone in need. Despite what she had on her plate, Donna’s infectious personality kept everyone laughing. She was an encourager who exuded love and saw people for who they were. Donna was preceded in death by her mother and maternal grandmother, Doris Jackson. Those left to cherish heartfelt memories are her loving daughters: Mrs. Yolanda (Travis) Whiteside, Greer, SC, and Ms. Jatari Pickett of Warren, OH; three grandchildren: Jadynce Whiteside, Greer, SC, Ar’mijaa Pickett and Travias Terry, Jr. of Warren, OH; father: Douglas Pickett, Greer, SC; five devoted brothers: Ricky (Margie) Pickett and Patrick Pickett of Greer, SC, Douglas (Debra) Pickett of Warren, OH, Jasper Pickett and Lee Pickett of Cincinnati, OH; two uncles: Willie Dawson Jackson and Johnny (Shirley) Jackson, of Greer, SC; five aunts: Stella Jackson, Sheila Jackson, and Jeannie (James, Jr) Smith of Greer, SC, and Tammy Jackson and Tracey (Dre) Suber of Greenville, SC; a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will take place on Monday February 13, 2023 at 3pm in the Historic Calvary Missionary Baptist Church located at 108 Forest St, Greer SC. Burial will take place at Needmore Cemetery in Greer

Public View will take on Sunday February 12, 2023 from 1pm until 4pm at Upstate Family Funeral Service Greer. 

Jessica L. Williams

 

  

Jessica L. Williams born on February 21, 1987 to  loving parents Father Bobby Joe Anderson and Mother Angeline Anderson. She passed away on February 05, 2023 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Jessica was a very spirited young lady and often brought joy into everyone’s heart. She was one of a kind, very smart, happy and had a deep love for the Lord. She often enjoyed singing, playing basketball and tennis. She also was particularly fond of watching cartoons and one of the funniest televisions shows "Good Times." One unique thing that we remember is that she loved the color pink. Jessica always enjoyed eating hamburger helper and hamburgers. She also enjoyed singing on the church choir. One of her favorite songs was a testimony written by Rodnie Bryant. We know this angel is now in the presence of
Our Father who is in heaven. She leaves to cherish her memories are her Parents. Two brothers: Bobby Joe Williams Jr of Greenville and Bobby Joe Anderson lll of Taylors. Grandparents Ida Ruth Anderson of Taylors and Eugene Snoddy of Taylors. Aunt Betty Davis of Greenville. Uncle Jerry Davis of Taylors. She also leaves a host of family and friends that will always  remember her wonderful smile.

The funeral service will held on Friday 2-10-2023 at 3pm in the Greer Chapel of Upstate Family Funeral Service. The  burial will be in  Brown Eternal Gardens. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1pm to 5pm . 

Michael Sullivan

 Michael “Coldheart “Sullivan was born on December 18, 1957 in Greenville, SC. He passed on Thursday January 12, 2023 in his home at the age of sixth-five.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Sullivan. He leaves lots of fond memories. He was particularly fond of his dog.
Surviving his legacy is his father; Frank White, one uncle Lewis Sullivan, daughter; Angle(Lamont)White, grandchildren; Zion and Jerome White. A loving and devoted friend Gloria Johnson; Three sisters; Yvette Tompkins, Wanda Anderson and Francina McMillian, Three brothers; Brain Sullivan, Alvin Sullivan and Stanley(Gloria) Dixon all of Greenville, SC. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Brian Murphy

Brian Patrick Murphy of Greenville, SC passed January 10, 2023, at Prisma Health Care Center in Greenville. He was preceded in death by parents William Murphy Sr and Olive White Murphy and his wife Evelyn Murphy. 

Brian was originally from Westbury, New York. He was educated in the New York State Public School system. He was a Clemson University Football fan and a die hard New York Giants fan. He collected memorabilia from the Giants. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was no stranger to the kitchen and enjoyed cooking.  One of his favorite bands from the 80s was Twisted Sister. He really enjoyed their music.

During the twilight of his life, His two daughters: Shannon McDaniel of Greenville; Erin McCarter (Brandon) of Greer were his caregivers. They were faithful to their father and loved him deeply.  He is also survived by brother William Murphy Jr. (Kathy) from Farmingville, New York. grandchildren Alyssa McDaniel, Gavin McDaniel, Aiden McDaniel, Alexis Allen, Alana McCarter and Mayson McCarter. one niece Casey Murphy and nephew Ryan Murphy.


The Family will host friends on Saturday January 14, 2023, at 203 Rockmont Road in Greenville, South Carolina at 1pm.
